Donnellson, IA (Saturday, October 8, 2022) – One Hundred forty cars, from seven states, signed in for competition on night 2 of the 11th Annual Harvest Hustle on Saturday, October 8th at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. When the final checkered flag fell after the eight feature events, four driver’s won for multiple times this year, while four other driver’s scored their first win of the season at the track.

The Donnellson Tire & Service 22 lap Stock Car feature struggled to get started, as four cautions within the first three laps slowed the pace. On the fourth restart Agee jumped out front, with Tom Cannon, John Oliver Jr., and Johnny Spaw trying to keep pace with Agee. It looked like Agee was going to lead the final several laps of the race without another caution, when Patrick Phillips slowed down the backstretch on lap 18 to bring out the yellow. Agee once again grabbed the lead on the restart, and then held on to claim the $1,000 victory. Oliver Jr. and Spaw got by Cannon on the final lap to finish 2nd and 3rd, Cannon was 4th, with Abe Huls rounding out the top 5.

Tommy Elston and Chuck Hanna drew the front row for the 25 lap Iowa Corn Growers Association Late Model feature, with Elston moving out front on lap 1 over Hanna and Nick Marolf. On lap 6 Marolf overtook Hanna for the runner up spot and then went to work on Elston for the top spot. Just as the lead duo entered lapped traffic on lap 12, the caution appeared for debris in turn 4. Elston jumped back out front on the restart, only to be slowed after lap 13 when Bryan Klein and Anthony Guss got together in turn 4 to bring the yellow out. Once again Elston moved back out front, with Marolf and Andy Nezworski looking for a way around. Marolf tried everything to get by Elston over the final laps. But Elston was able to hold him off to score his seventh win of the season at the Lee County Speedway, which was worth $1,000. Marolf was 2nd, Hanna got back by Nezworski late to finish 3rd, with CJ Horn coming from 12th to finish 5th.

Up next was the 20 lap Roberts Tire Center Northern SportMod feature, with Shaun Slaughter and Dakota Girard making up the front row. Girard took advantage of his starting spot by jumping out into the lead on lap 1 over Slaughter and Dylan Van Wyk. Slaughter worked the middle to upper part of the track to try and get the lead away from Girard, while Tony Olson, who started 8th, was working his way up to challenge for the top spot. On lap 9 Olson slipped past Slaughter for second and then went to work on Girard for the lead. Just when you thought the event would go caution free, the first one appeared on lap 12 when Casen Keller slowed off turn 4 with a right rear flat. On the restart Brayton Carter, who started 11th and restarted 5th, went three wide through the middle coming off turn 2 to grab the lead. Carter then started to pull away, when Tony Johnson spun in turn 2 on lap 16 to bring out the final caution. Once again Carter moved back out front, with Olson and Girard close behind. Carter would go on to lead the final laps to claim his seventh win of the season at the Lee County Speedway, which was worth $1,000. Olson was 2nd, Adam Birck started 10th and finished 3rd, Girard was 4th, with Brandon Dale coming from 13th to finish 5th.

Daniel Fellows and Eric Barnes drew the front row for the 22 lap Sonny’s Super Market Modified feature, with Fellows grabbing the lead on lap 1 over Barnes and Denny Eckrich. The lead for Fellows lasted for 1 lap, as Barnes slipped past on lap 2 to take over the top spot. On lap 3 the action was slowed for the first time, as Dustin Kroening spun in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. On the restart Barnes jumped back out front, with Fellows and Brennen Chipp, who started 8th, close behind. While Barnes worked the bottom of the track, Chipp ripped the top of the track. Chipp would use the momentum off the top coming off turn 4 to grab the top spot away from Barnes on lap 10. Chipp then started to pull away from the battles going on behind him, when the second and final caution appeared on lap 14. This time Kyle Madden would spin in turn 4 to bring out the yellow. Chipp once again grabbed the lead on the restart, with Jarrett Brown, who started 12th, moving into the runner up spot. Brown would try to keep pace with Chipp over the final laps, but wasn’t able to make a challenge. As Chipp went on to score his first win at the track, which was worth $1,000. Brown was 2nd, Dakota Simmons was 3rd, Eckrich was 4th, with Barnes coming home in 5th.

The 35 lap AVIS Car Rental Sport Compact feature was up next, with Derrick DeFord and Chandler Fullenkamp leading the field to green. DeFord would jump out into the lead on lap 1 over Chandler Fullenkamp and Chevy Barnes. While DeFord worked to hold off Chandler Fullenkamp, Michael Grossman, who started 5th, and Jake Benischek, who started 8th, were working their way towards the front. On lap 8 Grossman and Benischek worked themselves into second and third. Grossman challenged DeFord for the top spot through lapped traffic on lap 15, when mechanical troubles forced him to retire into the infield on lap 21. The first and only caution of the race appeared on lap 21, as TJ Weyls spun in turn 2 to bring out the yellow. On the restart DeFord moved back out front, with Benischek and Kimberly Abbott, who started 12th, glued to his back bumper. Benischek was content to follow DeFord over the next 8 laps. Then coming off turn 4 to complete lap 31 Benischek got under DeFord to grab the lead, only to lose it back to DeFord on lap 32. Benischek came back to lead lap 33, when DeFord used a lapped car on lap 34 to grab the top spot back. DeFord then held off Benischek on the final lap to claim his first win at the track, which happened to be worth $2,000. Abbott was 3rd, Jack Pflum was 4th, with Chevy Barnes holding on for 5th.

The three make-up features from September 10th were set to take to the track next, as the 16 lap Donnellson Tire & Service Stock Car feature was first. John Oliver Jr. grabbed the lead on lap from his pole starting position. Despite challenges from Johnny Spaw, Oliver Jr. held on to claim his first win of the season at the Lee County Speedway. Spaw was 2nd, Jason Cook was 3rd, Beau Taylor was 4th, with Jeremy Pundt rounding out the top 5.

Up next was the 16 lap Roberts Tire Center Northern SportMod make-up feature, with Brandon Dale and Kole Quam making up the front row. Dale jumped out front on lap 1 over Quam and Nicholas Profeta. While Quam and Profeta battled for the runner up spot, Dale would pull away. Dale would cruise to his first win of the season at the track. Quam won the battle for 2nd, Profeta was 3rd, Joe Roller was 4th, with Rex Widmer completing the top 5.

The final event to take to the track was the 12 lap AVIS Car Rental Sport Compact make-up feature, with Kimberly Abbott and Barry Taft leading the field to green. While Abbott paced the field out front, Taft and Justin Stevenson battled for the runner up spot. Their battle would allow Abbott to pull away to claim her second win of the season at the Lee County Speedway. Stevenson won the battle for 2nd, Taft settled for 3rd, Tim Schnathorst was 4th, with Ethan Prim scoring his first career top 5.

Coming up next at the Lee County Speedway will be the annual Shiverfest event, presented by Midwest Performance & Power on Saturday, October 29th. In action will be the Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods, Sport Compacts, A.I.R.S. Cars, and Mini Hauler Trucks.
